Press Release Summary: SCT system guarantees 100% accuracy for large volume orders
Press Release Body: London, 30th January, 2008 - Seachill, one of the UK's leading fresh fish processing companies, can now guarantee 100% accuracy of every delivery from its Grimsby processing plant, following its second deployment of ImageID's Visidot Supply Chain Traceability solution (SCT) technology. The new Palletization Reader from ImageID, which utilizes unique imaging-based technology to detect and decode standard linear as well as 2D barcode symbology will be used when the pallet to be shipped is being put together.
Seachill who supplies own label fish to leading UK retailers, including Tesco, says that the SCT solution has enabled it to turnaround orders in much faster timescales, while eliminating errors and removing the risk of penalties for late or incorrect orders.
Seachill deployed its first ImageID system in 2006, when the Visidot Reader Gate SCT solution was installed in the plant's dispatch area, replacing the far slower and outage-prone manual process that relied on handheld scanners. However due to the fact that products in the centre of some pallets did not have a line-of-sight to the Reader Gate, they had to still be scanned manually, hence error rate was sharply reduced, but not completely eliminated.
The success of this implementation prompted Seachill to introduce Visidot's Palletization Reader into the picking section of its Grimsby plant, to provide full visibility for orders where line-of-sight to all products is not available. The Palletization Reader scans and records each product batch as it is being picked, prior to being loaded onto a pallet for despatch. Each scan is compared with the original order list by the Visidot software, and alerts activated if any erroneous products are loaded (for example, an excess, shortage, wrong product or short expiry date.)
Seachill considered several options, including RFID to improve the accuracy of its larger orders, according to Steve Wallace, Seachill's IT Manager, "We operate in an extremely competitive market, with no room for error, and in peak periods it was a challenge to maintain order accuracy especially when we had to turn large orders around extremely quickly. We looked at RFID, but the cost of the tags was too high, especially in the context of high volumes of relatively low-cost products. We were also concerned about RFID's potential sensitivity to the cold and damp conditions of the plant."
"Now, not only do the two systems from ImageID save us time because their scanning speed is so fast compared to our old systems, but we are also guaranteed that every order we send out is going to be right first time. This gives us a competitive edge over our rivals because customers know that they can rely on Seachill to give them exactly what they want."
Rafi Pilosoph, VP Marketing, ImageID adds, "Visidot is a unique product in that it is the world's first SCT solution able to track multiple assets with 100% accuracy. Because Seachill now has systems in place to handle both pallets with line-of-sight and without, it can rest assured that every order it ships is correct, saving the company time and money." Ends
About ImageID ImageID, an international company with partner networks in the US and Europe, and R&D facilities in Israel, develops and markets the Visidot solution. Visidot delivers all of the inherent benefits of traditional barcode technology, yet far surpasses these with significantly increased code capture speed and efficiency - especially when tracking multiple assets.
